Thank God February is Over....

This past month was gruelling, hence my lack of updates. I've been extremely reclusive, sort of seasonally depressed and far too busy with work for words. Though it doesn't feel like it right now, I'm hoping March will bring 1) better weather (though it's friggin' 14 degrees out as I type this) and 2) a little bit more free time. I've been so exhausted with work and freelance junk that I just can't seem to cut a break. I can't wait for Spring to finally set in. At any rate, February highlights DID include seeing a live theatrical version of Patrick Swayze's (and Keanu!) Point Break, which was extremely comical and if you ever get a chance to see it, I highly reccommend it. I took a trip down to the the Jersey shore to visit Tiffany at Bradley Beach which was a blast and I can't wait to hang out there this summer. Her place is quite literally steps from the beach, a fact that I thought she was fibbing about simply to get my ass on a train to come visit her. It was great to catch up, sit around and get drunk on cheap wine like old times. What else...Joe and I viewed a few neighborhood apartments and decided to just bite the bullet, sign another 2 year lease on the old place and deal with our ity bity close situation the best we can by saving up to purchase a wardrobe of some sort. Our current location and the size of the apartment for what we pay is just far too sweet for us to give up for some shitty place that's half the size at twice the price. Also, we didn't win the mega millions :(

I also just found out that Clare is coming to visit from DC for a weekend, which I'm totally excited about considering I've literally not seen any of my friends (aside from Tiff and Allison) in SO long that I need to start being social again. In addition, I just discovered that I will be attending the Emmy nominations (Daytime, that is) next Wednesday morning at the ass-crack of dawn. It will certainly be a snorefest, but interesting so i'm kind of diggin on the fact that I'll be there with the rest of the blood-sucking media circus shoving tape recorders in actors faces so we can be the first to get their "I just got nominated" reactions. We are leaches. It's pathetic, but it's my job.

Sigh....

Wow. Has it really been a month since my last post? I've been so busy I don't even know where to start. Work is insane, but I'm loving it. Finally visited the set over at CBS and met all the actors....that was interesting, but nothing exciting (sorry to disappoint). I did, however, discover that if my soap gets nominated for daytime emmys, i get to go to LA for the awards in June. Suh-weet. Though I really can't imagine that those kind of events are much fun, unless there's complimentary alcohol involved. Yawn-fest, I'm sure. Plus, it's daytime so spotting Regis and Kelly would likely be the only decent (er, at least semi-big) celebrity sighting worth noting. There is always Oprah. She'll probably be building some school in Africa...Anyway, what else. Christmas in Syracuse was fun. Sadly, I have no pictures. Joe and I returned to spend a very chill and uneventful New Year's out on Long Island, boozing and eating like the champs we are. And now we're both battling nasty colds. Next weekend we leave for a fabulous long weekend in Killington Vermont where we've chipped in on a fat ski house with some other people. I can't wait. There will be shennanigans galore and loads of pics to come, I'm sure.

Home for the Holiday

Thanks to all who made the trip back to the homeland enjoyable. Everything went surprisingly smooth and I think I saw literally EVERY member of the fam on both sides. And I must give a shout-out to the cuz'z. Fun times, indeed. Here are some pics, though they aren't very good: http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a77/daniellemcclure80/ks%20trip/

not sure if i'm diggin this jive....

i just went to a salon to get a haircut for the upcoming holiday and definitely got more than i bargained for....i said, "it's a little long and the layers are gross so you know, just update it or whatever.." and Carlos the "fabulous" Aveda stylist who spoke so little english he asked me 3 times "so you like music?", chopped my locks off shorter than i've had them in 2 years. We're talkin' short, people. Yikes. All that hard work trying to grow it out! This will take some getting used to. Feh, it's just hair.

A Fresh Start

And a new job. The best perk (and there are, surprisingly, several perks)? A TV on my desk...all day. And I'm encouraged to watch it. Awesome. I must admit, for as many reservations I originally had about taking this gig (the pay being one factor), I really do think I'm going to enjoy it and my co-workers have, thus far, proven to be pretty fucking cool which is a hell of a lot better than working with one old crazy ass biddy who made me open her goddman fucking mail every day. That is all!

Also, how is Thanksgiving only 2 weeks away, by the way? Ugh. I'm not entirely ready for the holiday season and it's already been here (according to the decorations and candy at Duane Reade) for more than an month already.
