We FINALLY got our power back on Friday. Thank god. However, there are still thousands of folks in Queens who are left without. It's pretty much a crisis at this point. And the outrage ensues, with help from the media (finally). Here's the most recent Times article. And apparently there are blackouts in St. Louis as well? Jesus. In other news, I just scored a gig as a freelancer for Sheckys.com, an online nightlife/beauty/NYC site in the spirit of Citysearch. I'll be writing NYC-area beauty/salon reviews (roughly 3 per week). Amusing, since I rarely indulge in pedicures, even. However, it pays (little, but still) and it will force me to write. Yay! So for all of my NYC readers (if there are any) if you have any great salons and/or beauty spas you frequent, let me in on the tip.

Do you get to get all the beauty treatments for free? If so, I think that'd be payment enough for me! I could go for a pedicure right about now...
unfortunately no. And i don't even think i actually have to visit half of them, but i was told i can just say i'm a reviewer and it's likely they will comp me some products or treatments!
