The iPod Toting Beggar/Bum/DJ
So I was walking to the L train in the 14th Street station yesterday after work and because I had left my own little iPod shuffle at the boy's house, I wasn't drowning out obnoxious subway station sounds with awesome tunes by The Detroit Cobras (who i'm totally digging right now). Anyway, I heard this great music (though I don't know what it was...jazz perhaps, old-timey shit?) and I looked to my left to find some old dude who appeared to be homeless, sitting on a chair with an iPod in his hand that was attached to a large external speaker. Not neccessarily an odd sight in NYC, maybe he was just trying to make people have a better day by playing some good music aloud in the station (and anything is better than the asshole who wanders around playing the fucking bagpipes) but the fact that he had a guitar case (or a hat, i can't remember) open and people had actually PUT MONEY IN IT!?!?!!?! I mean, jesus...an iPod-carrying bum/dj asking for charity. Something's so not right with that.

I feel like you could start a good book of "only in New York" photographs.
